UNCERTAINTY AND THE GOD WHO HELPS
I remember one afternoon vividly.
She sat on the floor of her small room, staring at a calendar whose dates meant nothing anymore. She had been waiting for calls that never came. Meanwhile, bills arrived consistently, as though scheduled by heaven to test her faith. She whispered to myself, “God, I don’t know what’s next.”
One day, after several rejections, she stepped outside just to clear her head. On her way back home, she met an older neighbour named Uncle James sitting outside his gate. He looked at her and asked, “Why do you look like you’re carrying the whole world?” She tried to smile, but her voice cracked. “I don’t know where my life is going,” I said.
Quietly, he reached into his pocket and handed her a tiny folded paper. On it were these handwritten words:
“Do not fear, for I will help you.” Isaiah 41:13 Then he said, “Give God space to surprise you.”
She walked away clutching that piece of paper like treasure. That night, she read it again and again. she taped it beside her bed.
Days later unexpectedly a friend informed her of a job opening. She applied, uncertain and hesitant. The interview was nothing spectacular, but she got the job. It came with more than she asked for a community, provision, and stability.
Weeks later, she returned to Uncle James’s gate. He wasn’t outside. She slipped a note under his door: “God helped me.”
That season taught me that uncertainty does not mean abandonment. Sometimes the door God will open is behind the wall of silence.
2. BIBLICAL IMPLEMENTATION
Uncertainty is woven into the journey of faith: Abraham didn’t know where he was going yet God said, “I will show you.” Esther walked into the king’s presence unsure yet God favoured her. Peter stepped out of the boat trembling, yet Jesus held him.
Isaiah 41:10–13 speaks clearly: “Do not be afraid I will help you.”
It is not poetic advice. It is a covenant statement. God’s help is not conditional on our strength; it is anchored in His faithfulness.
Hebrews 13:6 boldly declares: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear.”
God doesn't ignore tears that fall quietly. He doesn’t overlook prayers whispered shakily. He doesn’t abandon hearts full of confusion. Uncertainty is never evidence that God is absent it is often the place where His help becomes undeniable.
3. THE MORAL
Life will never be predictable. There will be seasons of fog, months with unanswered questions, days where nothing makes sense. But uncertainty has a purpose. It teaches dependence, reveals God’s nearness, and builds trust where logic fails.
The promise remains: “I will help you.” Not “maybe. “Not “when it’s convenient.”
Not “if you feel strong enough.” But I will. So, when life feels blurry, when doors stay closed, when answers delay, when your heart feels heavy Don’t panic.
Don’t assume God has forgotten. Sometimes His silence isn’t distance
it’s preparation. And when He steps in, you will know it was Him. In a world filled with unpredictability, cling to the most certain truth of all: God sees you.
God is with you and yes, He will help you
